How to remove prefetch files:
Go to prefetch folder under windows folder
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch [assuming you have windows installed under C:\ drive]
Select all files and delete them.
This will remove all prefetch data that includes all the prefecth for applications that are no more used.
Windows will automatically create prefetch for system boot files when it is restarted next time.
Prefetch for applications will also be created when you start the applications the next time.
To disable prefetch on applications read the scrap setting what to prefetch
