Archie was quick to learn any new trick,
and so clever to know what made all the world click;
but inside was a challenge that troubled his soul.
It was anger that Archie found hard to control.
He was happy in life; not a grouchy mean brat,
but sometimes his big temper was no proof of that.
His big brother and sister knew how mad he got,
and they found it amusing to tease him a lot.
They thought it was fun to make Archie displeased,
and he acted so silly each time he was teased.
They poked him and laughed. They made fun of him too.
They knew Archie so well. They knew just what to do.
Making Archie get angry was always their plan.
They knew when he went quiet--his anger began.
He would scrunch up his eyebrows and squish up his nose,
and his ears turned as red as a fresh garden rose.
Archie told them to stop, but they just never would.
So he screamed, "I am going to get you guys good!"
Archie chased after them in a menacing way.
Then they ran to their parents without a delay.
Then guess who got in trouble...the kid who got mad.
It was Archie who seemed like the one being bad.
Archie often got punished for being upset,
but he had no solution for his anger yet.
Still he knew that his temper needed to be tamed.
He knew it was a weakness that made him ashamed.
So with his clever mind, he considered the plot
of his brother and sister who teased him a lot.
It was not about them, though they did make it worse.
Archie found, he himself caused his temper's bad curse.
It was for the reaction that his siblings teased.
When he shouted at them, they seemed always so pleased.
But if he could keep himself from getting so mad
perhaps they would not tease him in ways quite so bad.
Being angry, he found, was what he must control,
so controlling his temper became Archie's goal.
When his brother and sister teased Archie some more,
he did not show his anger as much as before.
He made no angry faces, and he did not shout.
Though he was quite annoyed, he did not let it out.
And his brother and sister got bored of the tease.
They could no longer make Archie angry with ease.
Archie worked on his temper, and learned to let go
of small things that don't matter enough to let show.
He learned how to relax even when things went wrong.
He controlled his bad temper and that made him strong.
Archie learned from his anger and found it is true,
when you control your anger, it can't control you.
