Warner sets up Daredevils' win

NEW DELHI: David Warner was the difference between Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders. His century carried DD to a convincing 40-run win in the Indian Premier League contest at the Ferozeshah Kotla here on Monday night.
KKR began in style, snaring Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir cheaply, but failed to maintain the momentum and surrendered meekly when pursuing a target of 178.
Much was expected of Sourav Ganguly, Chris Gayle and Manoj Tiwary, but they came a cropper to leave DD with its fourth win in seven matches.
Warner and Collingwood demonstrated the best tactic to go about the job when under pressure. They did not discard the trusted way of playing pure cricketing shots but whenever opportunity came they adopted the horizontal style too to club the ball.
Intense contest
The contest was intense when DD batted and the packed audience loved every moment of it.
The start was shaky. Sehwag's shot selection and Gambhir's error in judging the length meant the home team had lost its best two strikers in 12 balls.
Having watched the timid dismissals from the other end, Warner, the ‘man of the match', chose to make a strong statement by producing the second century of this IPL edition, after Yusuf Pathan of Rajasthan Royals.
