Yuki cruises past Christopher

VIJAYAWADA: Top seed Yuki Bhambri made short work of Christopher Marquis 6-2, 6-2 to enter the pre-quarterfinals of the ITF Futures men's tournament at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Tennis Complex here on Tuesday.
Yuki broke Christopher in the first and fifth games to clinch the first set in less than 30 minutes. In the second, he had breaks in the first and fourth games to register a facile win.
K. Vinayak Sharma got past Vignesh Chandrasekhar 6-4, 7-5 to reach the last 16. Vinayak played the crucial points well to take the first set. The second set saw Vignesh serving for the set at 5-3. However, Vinayak got his act together in time to reel off the next four games.
Nelord beats Filenkov
Yannick Nelord outlasted Russian Alexei Filenkov 7-5, 7-5 in a marathon encounter that lasted two hoursr. Filenkov, who was serving well, however, capitulated while serving for the first set at 5-6. He went on to lose the set.
