NEW DELHI: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has once again decided to take up the Ram temple issue by “awakening the people” through a country-wide movement from August 16.

The VHP made the announcement after a meeting of its Kendriya Marg Darshak Mandal in Haridwar on Tuesday.

A large number of ‘sadhus' and ‘sants' of various sects are in Haridwar for the ongoing Kumbh Mela. The VHP also issued a call to protect the cow and the Ganga, according to a press release issued here.

Sources in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) had indicated that it was time to once again stir up the temple issue as the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court could pronounce a verdict on the main title deed case and the question of whether or not a Ram temple existed at the site of the demolished Babri Masjid.
