Health camp conducted

Tirupur: The second of the three-phased mega health mela organised by the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine for Tirupur Lok Sabha constituency, was held at Pandian Nagar near here on Tuesday.

Deputy Director of Health Senthil Kumar said that the health mela was organised with the funding of National Rural Health Mission.

Around 1,000 patients were screened for various diseases. Medicines worth about Rs. 15,000 were distributed free-of-cost to the needy at the camp. The Health Department set up booths at the venue to disseminate information pertaining to diseases like leprosy and tuberculosis and deficiencies like diabetes and Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome. Tirupur MP C. Sivasami inaugurated the camp in the presence of District Revenue Officer K.V. Muralitharan.
