U.S. coaches' clinic begins

CHENNAI: U.S. basketball coaches J.D. Walsh, Craig Esherick and Bob Baker are in Chennai to conduct a three-day clinic in partnership with the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu. The clinic began on Wednesday and will end on April 10.

Around 50 players from different sports schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu, 20 SDAT coaches and 10 physical educators will attend the clinic.

The team of Walsh, Esherick and Baker was awarded a U.S. Department of State Sports Initiative grant for two years of coaches' training and cultural exchange in India.

After the Chennai leg, the team will travel to Bangalore. “We will be training the National men's team there from April 10 to 15,” said Walsh at a press meet here on Wednesday.
