Tejas upstages Saleh

NEW DELHI: Tejas Ravichandran continued to make a mockery of seedings when he upstaged 34th seeded Grandmaster Salem Saleh, rated 318 points above at 2483, in the second round of the $45,000 Dubai Open chess tournament in Dubai on Tuesday.
Tejas, who stunned ninth seeded Russian GM Sergey Volkov in the opening round, is among the eight Indians who are part of the 32-player pack at two points. Other Indians among the leaders are Parimarjan Negi, M.R. Lalith Babu, R.R. Laxman, D. Harika, S. Satyapragyan, Sahaj Grover and Abhijeet Gupta.
Other notable results of the day came when International Master Shyam Sundar drew with fifth seeded Georgian GM Tamaz Gelashvili and Padmini Rout proved equal to another Georgian GM Levan Pantsulaia, seeded 14.
