Murukku
Ingredients:
* 2 cups rice
* ΒΌ cup urad dal (black gram - split)
* 1 tbsp sesame seeds
* A pinch of asafetida
* A pinch of soda bicarb
* Oil as needed
* Salt to taste
Making Murukku
1. Soak rice for 2 hours. Drain, dry and grind to a fine powder.
2. Roast urad dal (black gram - split) and grind to a powder.
3. Mix both the rice flour and dal powder.
4. Add sesame seeds, asafetida, soda bicarbonate, and salt.
5. Add oil to this mixture and roll into a soft dough with water. Press small quantities of this dough through a murukku mold and deep fry in oil till crisp.
6. Drain the oil and store murukku in airtight containers.
