The answer is yes...



1. For this, open the System Preferences panel under Apple icon.

2. Click Speech and select the tab Text to speech and check the option "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" and click the Set Key option.

3. Choose one modifier key — Command, Control, Option, or Shift — plus one other key of your choice, then click OK.

4. Now each time you type this key combination after selecting the text your Mac will read aloud the text which you have selected.
