The Flintstones Characters 50th Anniversary – The world of Google had been swamped with the adorable Flintstones Characters from 1960 creation of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Google presented a Google Doodle for this celebration.

Fred Flintstone resembles Jackie Gleason, American comedian, actor and musician.
Barney Rubble looks like Art Carney’s character, Ed Norton in the 1960′s TV classic “The Honeymooners”. In fact the whole Flintstones animation was thought to have been based on this classic.
The Flintstones also have guest characters which are made to resemble real life actors like “Cary Granite – Cary Grant, “Stony Curtis” – Tony Curtis, “Sulleyrock Ed” – Ed Sullivan, “Hudstone Rock” – Rock Hudson, and “Ann Margrock” – Margaret Ann.
Despite The Flintstones original animated series ending in 1966, the animation never stops and continued with the story of the characters of Bed Rock. Flintstones stories includes The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show (1971–72), The Flintstone Comedy Hour (1972–73), Fred Flintstone and Friends (1977–7, The New Fred and Barney Show (1979), Fred and Barney Meet the Thing (1979), Fred and Barney Meet the Shmoo (1979–80), The Flintstone Comedy Show (1980–82), The Flintstone Funnies (1982–84), The Flintstone Kids (1986–8, Dino: World Premiere Toons – featuring “Stay Out!” (1995), “The Great Egg-Scape” (1997), and Cave Kids: Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm (2000).
There were even movies based on The Flintstones: The Man Called Flintstone (1966, released by Columbia Pictures), The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones (1987), I Yabba-Dabba Do! (1993), Hollyrock-a-Bye Baby (1993), A Flintstones Christmas Carol (1994), The Flintstones: On the Rocks (2001); and two live action films: The Flintstones (1994), and The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas (2000).
