Sachin hits 6th double century

Sachin Tendulkar's marathon knock finally came to an end when he dragged a full pitched delivery from rookie Australian pacer Peter George to his wicket. He fell after scoring 214 runs.

And as has been the case many times, just after he departed, the Indian innings collapsed and the hosts were all out for 495.

The hosts could have dictated terms to the Australians but will now have to do with a slender lead of 17 runs and with more than a day and a half to go, the match can still go either way.

20 years of international experience and there have been several adjectives used for the 'little genius'. And his hunger for success just keeps growing by each passing day.

Sachin Tendulkar showed exemplary skills and great endurance on Day 3 of the second Test match against Australia in Bangalore to take India to safety and bring up his 49th Test century.

And on Day 4, he completed his sixth double century and is now tied with Virender Sehwag for the maximum number of double tons by an Indian.

At 37 years, he might not be the most athletic sportsman around but his maneuverability and abilities to stand the test of time makes him arguably the best exponent of batsmanship in modern day cricket.

While it is true that the present Australian bowling attack is not their best, nothing can be taken away from Sachin as he has showed time and again that he is capable of playing both the roles of the flamboyant aggressor and the watchful accumulator.

Here's hoping the purple patch continues for the 'master' for a long time to come.
