Debutant Cheteshwar Pujara 72, and batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar 57* have led India to victory at Bangalore India won the series 2-0 over Australia.
The debutant completely missed the straight one, hanging his head in disappointment as his off-stump pegged back. Pujara scored 72.
Dravid has joined Tendulkar in the middle.
Earlier, Shane Watson trapped Murali Vijay in front of the stumps shortly after lunch.
Vijay contrived to miss the off-cutter, which struck him on the back pad dead in front of off-stump.
LUNCH REPORT
After bowling Australia out for 223 within the first 10 overs of the day, the Indians began their 207-run chase looking to secure a 2-0 win in the Border-Gavaskar series.
Ben Hilfenhaus provided Australia’s only breakthrough of the morning by snaring Virender Sehwag as the visitors battled to draw the series.
India’s chase got off to a stylish start, Murali Vijay hitting a boundary off the first ball, but fellow opener Sehwag had a scare when he was dropped in the gully by Mike Hussey.
Sehwag did not last long, however, Hilfenhaus forcing the caught-behind by Tim Paine in the next over to dismiss him for seven.
Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara (both 29 not out) steadied the innings thereafter, taking India past 50 – at just above six runs an over – with an unbroken second-wicket stand of 56 going into lunch.
Earlier, with Australia resuming day five on 202 for seven, overnight batsmen Mitchell Johnson and Nathan Hauritz continued their solid play for the first half-hour to stretch the tourists’ lead past 200 and their partnership to 32 off 63 balls.
Johnson attempted to accelerate proceedings with a boundary off the first ball of the day’s seventh over.
However, Zaheer Khan’s next ball was a superb inswinger which knocked over Johnson’s off stump to send him back for 11.
Sreesanth added to India’s joy in the next over, bowling Hilfenhaus off his pads before he could trouble the scorers.
Australia’s innings came to an end when Peter George fell, also for a duck, gloving a bouncer from Zaheer to wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
