After successful launch of music services in US, Google has launched its Google Music India services. These are officially called as as Google Music Search (India) Labs as the services is in testing phase. Currently its launched in partnership with 3 leading music companies in India i.e. In.com, Saavn.com, and Saregama. Also currently songs are from bollywood only. Hopefully in future, Google may also tie up up with more companies and may also offer regional songs.
Working of Google music services is quite simple and its more similar to Guruji's music services. Google has not brought any new dimensions. Users just need to search for song or album and from the results, one can simply
click to play. The songs will be played by streaming directly from the partner company site. The Google ads will be shown in footer part of the player similar to way its shown in Youtube video.
The limiting or disappointing part of the Google music India services is that it doesn't allow to download songs. Also there is no option to select multiple songs and list them in play list. Like YouTube videos, users need to play every song individually. Currently, there is no option to rate the song or album also.
The Google music services offers search for artists, albums or songs from the directory it has from 3 partnership companies. Still the database has great varieties which includes old hit movies Mughal-e-Azam, Guide to latest movies like Break Ke Baad, Guzaarish, Dabaang.
In the individual page for a album or movie songs, users will find information on title of movie, lyricist name, actors, Label (name of music company) and year of release. For individual song, there is information on duration of song and singer's name. The songs, albums etc. can be shared on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz et.
