Chinese MacBook Air Clone Might Just Be The Ultimate Hackintosh

The new 11.6-inch MacBook Air is extremely netbook-like in dimensions, if not in specs or price, but if that $999 tag doesn't do it for you, the gadget sweatshops of China would be happy to sell you a Hackintoshable MacBook Air clone for just $260, right down to the official Apple logo.

The computer is made by China's E-Stary. Called the HY118, their MacBook Air clone is a netbook through and through, boasting an Atom N270 CPU, a 160GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM, as well as a 11.6-inch display running at a 1366x768 resolution. Other specs include a couple of USB 2.0 ports, Wi-Fi, ethernet and Bluetooth.

It is, of course, substantially thicker than the MacBook Air, and heavier too at 2.97 pounds, but the HY118 costs just a quarter of the real Air's price, and that Atom N270 CPU makes this an easy computer to Hackintosh.

The performance? Not equivalent to even the entry-level MacBook Air. But hey, at least you can upgrade the RAM.
