Apple will offer its newly configured Mac Pro and Mac Mini, as replacement for Xserve, at the end of January 2011.
The company announced its move to sell alternative products after a decision that they will no longer sell its Xserve system. It will be phased out at the end of January next year. The two new options are both powered by Intel's newest Xeon processor.
In the web post by Apple official in November 5, stated that the transition that the company made for their Xserve is a decision that they will no longer sell out this system in the market after January 31, 2011, instead directed their customers to a new option of Mac Pro and Mac Mini, both run Snow Leopard Mac OS. The company also offering a transition guide for their customers.
They also released a statement that 2TB, 1TB and 160 GB version model of Xserve are still obtainable to order until the end of January, having a one year warranty from the company.
Apple is now focusing on its effort on the consumer market; it is noticeable with the company's product line, having a runaway success with their iPod, iPhone and iPad devices.
The Mac Pro desktop PCs are powered by Xeon Westmere processors by Intel, which can manage tasks that are currently performed by Xserve.
According to Apple official, the most recent version of Mac Pro already surpassed Xserve in terms of processor performance.
In an overall view, the Mac Pro tower system is going to offer up to 12 processing cores with 64 GB memory. The four storage bay of the unit has a capability to offer up to 2TB of storage in the SSD or hard drive.
The most popular server of the company is the Mac Mini, it was then first introduced in the market a year ago. However, this model is not as powerful as the Mac Pro, but it works well with in workgroups having up to 50 people and small business as well. It can also been used for single applications with a large number of users.
