A "Children's Day" is an event which is celebrated to honor children. Children's Day is observed on various days in many places all round the world. It is celebrated on June 1 as International Children's Day and on November 20 as a Universal Children's Day by United Nations recommendation.
Children's day is also known as "BAL Diwas" (in hindi) and in India it falls on 14th November every year. Children's day is celebrated on Pandit Nehru's birthday as a day of fun and frisk. There is a celebration of childhood, children and Nehruji's love for the children.
Before 1959 Children's Day was commonly celebrated on October. The celebration of children's day was being started by UN General Assembly, in 1954.
Although Children's Day is universally celebrated on 20th November but in India it is celebrated on 14th November on the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, the independent India's first Prime Minister.
The only reason for choosing Nehru's Birthday for the celebration of Children's Day is because of his love and ardor for children. Pandit Nehru is also observed as the country's special child.
