The 2010 American Music Awards will be broadcast live on ABC tonight starting at 8 p.m. ET. Nobody much cares who wins an AMA–can you name three past winners? The whole night is really about who shows up, who wears what well, and who puts on the most buzzed-about performance. Last year, Lady Gaga set her piano ablaze. Hard to see how anybody follows that without inflicting casualties.
The scheduled acts include Katy Perry, Pink, Usher, Justin Bieber, Bon Jovi and Ke$ha. That’s a pretty populist list of performers, and Ke$ha, Perry and Pink are all more than willing to do things on stage that will get folks tweeting. We’re hoping that there will also be a surprise or three.
