A new feature introduced in Word 2007 is the mini formatting toolbar that appears whenever some text is highlighted in the document. It also pops up if you move the mouse upwards or right-click somewhere. Some people think that it is a very handy tool. However, there are folks who think it is annoying or distracting. Open a Word document and click on the Office Button on the top.
Click on “Word Options†in the menu.
The Word Options dialog box will appear.
Select “Popular†from the top left hand side if it is not selected already by default.
Under “Top options for working with Wordâ€, uncheck “Show Mini Toolbar on selectionâ€.
Click on the OK button.
This will give you the desired result. But this does not mean that the mini toolbar enhancement cannot be accessed any more. If you want to use the mini toolbar, just right-click at any place on the document or on highlighted text. You cannot disable the feature completely.
