Google Introduces Project Tango 3D Mapping Phone

Google's Advanced Technology & Projects group has introduced a new Android-based prototype 5-inch phone and developer kit with advanced 3D sensors, named as 'Project Tango'.


The main function of this phone is,

• This phone can 3D map your entire home.



• With the sensors, it can track motion.



• Can build a visual map of rooms using 3D scanning.

Google wants to merge these 3D sensors with latest and advanced computer vision techniques that will help to split out newer innovations for indoor navigations, games and so on.

Google is using Movidius' Myriad 1 vision processor platform for Project Tango. These sensors were considered very expensive.
