1 Focus on the goal. If you don't pay attention to your goal, then you will eventually lose motivation as it fades into the back of
your mind. So, keep it at the center of your attention. Talk about it to others, read articles and web sites related to it, watch
movies or television shows related to it, look for others who have accomplished it and get their advice, write out your goal, remind yourself of it daily, think about it when you are in the shower or going to work.
2 Remind yourself about why the goal is important. Come up with a list of reasons why this goal is important, as well as the benefits
of achieving it. As noted in step 1, talk about these reasons to others, think about the benefits of achieving the goal, and come up
with stories that reinforce the importance of achieving this goal. Without vision, the people perish. Giving yourself (or others) a
vision for why this is important will help keep you motivated.
3 Celebrate each step toward accomplishing the goal and use that as evidence that you are fully capable of eventually accomplishing this
goal. If you don't think that the goal is achievable, then you will lose motivation in due time. So, convince yourself with strong
ongoing evidence that you can really accomplish this, and surround yourself with others who will continue to remind you that this is
something that you can really accomplish.
4 Feed on success. Success breed success. The feeling of satisfaction that comes from small successes will keep you fired up to
persevere even when things get difficult. Setting mini-goals that lead toward to the final goal will give you the opportunity to have
lots of small celebrations and a satisfying journey toward eventually reaching the big goal.
