Michael Jackson marriage certificate auctioned

Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley's marriage certificate has reportedly sold for $70,800 (£44,250) at an auction.

The document, signed by the late King Of Pop and his then wife, was issued following the wedding ceremony in the Dominican Republic on May 26, 1994.

According to Contactmusic, two collectors racked up over 20 bids between them as they fought over the item.

The anonymous winner said: "My wife and I have been collecting autographs and memorabilia since 1973.

"Several years ago we were outbid on the marriage certificate signed by Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller and I did not want to miss the chance to own this one. We were very excited."

Jackson and Presley separated two years later in 1996.
