Shahid Azmi, lawyer to 26/11 attackers, shot in Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 11 (IANS) Lawyer Shahid Azmi, who is defending one of the key accused in the ongoing 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks trial, was shot at in his office late Thursday evening, police said.

Azmi was taken to Sion Hospital where his condition is reported to be critical, police said.

Police said that some unidentified persons barged into his office in Taximen's Colony in Kurla, a north-eastern Mumbai suburb just before 9 p.m. and opened fire at him.

Azmi was representing Fahim Ansari, an Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) activist, charged with preparing the groundwork to help the perpetrators of the terror attacks.
