How to Prevent Childhood Obesity
Numerous studies and reports indicate that today children are less healthy and are heavier in weight as compared to those were a few decades ago. Nowadays child’s diet includes more of trans fat, less nutrients and food high in sugars. They prefer to eat more junk foods and less fruits or vegetables. The use of TV, Computer, and Video Games etc has made children more sedentary. All these factors promote obesity in child which makes it very important to take preventive measures to control it.
Here are some useful measures which you can follow:
* Reduce refined sugar intake. Drinking sugared drinks instead of water is the main reason behind obesity as it raises the obesity up to 60%.
* Encourage your child to drink more pure water whenever they are thirsty.
* Overweight children need minimum 30 mins of exercise daily, so see that your child does it on regular basis. They can start from walking and later can increase the intensity & perform some tough exercise.
* Mostly children eat fast food, candy and snacks which is not good for health. Take care that they have more healthy food which include fruits and vegetables.
* Don’t allow your child to play more video games or watch much TV. Encourage them to play sports with friends that require more physical efforts.
* If your child is becoming overweight you can consult with pediatrician to control it.
* Play with your child, go for swimming, take walks, do exercise or go to garden for a change.
Parents play a very important role in controlling & preventing obesity in children. So if you are practicing healthy habits in your daily life it will be easier to convince your children to do the same.
